making engine look cleaner
as its nice i wana give the engine a good degreasing and a good steam clean, i always used wd40 on my n/a engines and brought them up real well.
Is it safe to jet wash the engine (i know to keep it running) and what do i have to cover up, also is it safe to spray wd40 over the engine.

Yep, wet washing using a low pressure hose is fine, just cover any air intakes and sensitive electrical contacts first (plus your alternator if you are worried, although I have wet washed numerous Scooby engines without doing this latter step with no problems) - see the guide below for more info. I use P21S Total Auto Wash as a degreaser, and it works brilliantly. After rinsing, I dry off then spray everything with 303 Aerospace Protectant - after leaving to dry for a few hours and then buffing, this leaves a factory look and no wetness to attract dust/grime (unlike WD40).

Not a fan of Scratch X, but it might be your method as it can work okay when used with enough pressure. When hand polishing, a chunky applicator like a German Pad really helps the polishing process...
