Default is meguiers gold class wax any good?

As above - i've been using their 3 step crystal finish stuff but am coming to the end. Just want to know if the gold class stuff is any good and it it just 1 application or do you need to apply a polish as well?

what colour car do you have?

it can be a total PITA on blacks tbh

but i use it for any dark coloured cars (stuff that looks half decent) that come in for full valets.

i always use a polish before hand, but if the car is already well prepped, you could get away with a plain wash if you are a regular buffty boy

i actually tried it last week with a rotary polisher, to see what would happen on my white scoob, which somehow took me much longer then doing it by hand for some reason LOL

when i first bought some i had a bloke pop in for a quick handwax, he had a nice looking jap kitted supra, fine i thought, i will whip out the gold class, ohh my god, that bloke got his moneys worth out of me

supras look much bigger when you are polishing them by hand

I`ve used it in the past and found it hard work compared to the likes of Swissol, although the finished results were alright with the Gold Class.

Thumbs up

I used to use it before my current blackfire setup - its good stuff - give it time to cure and it comes off no messing the other + point is that theres no white powder it dries clear - something which most polishes/waxes dont do (bloody dust everywhere)

you will still need a good polish though as goldclass is just a wax.

Megs gold class is only a clear coat liquid wax - it does not take any defects out of your paint like a cutting polish would do its just a wax with lots of fillers to hide swirls etc. these wash away in time so your swirls come back

Meguiars NXT Tech Wax Liquid is a sort of polish and wax - which will give you better results IIRC - nice and easy for those who dont have the time to remove defects with separate polishes.

I am sure PB will throw his imput on this.

I think Gold Class is an average product at best - I used it years back before getting seriously into my car care, and I now know it's not a patch on many other products, in terms of aesthetics, durability and ease of use.

On WR Blue, I like a couple of different combinations to give a wet, glossy look or a shiny and reflective look with more flake pop, depending on what the customer wants.

For wet and glossy I like the Blackfire range (Gloss Enhancing Polish topped with Wet Diamond)...

For shiny and reflective I like Jeffs Werkstatt Prime topped with a few coats of Acrylic Jett Trigger...

Aye, the P1 got Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish topped with Blackfire Wet Diamond (after machine polishing with Menzera/Blackfire polishes). There is no need for a wax topper, and I wouldn't recommend trying. The links to these products are...
