Thumbs up August Show n Shine Winners

Congratulations to Shaun Townsley of Nottingham for winning our August show n shine. Shaun has done a great job detailing his friend’s Fiesta ST. The car is a daily driver that covers a lot of miles and also gets used on the track regularly, and it was evident from the outset that it was covered in tar and rubber spots. Shaun started out by giving the car a good wash and removing a heavy build up of brake dust from the alloy wheels, before moving on to the bodywork. The claying step took some considerable time, due to the large amount of tar spots covering the car. He then got out his Porter Cable 7424 dual action polisher and Sonus foam pads and proceeded to conduct a three step polishing process, starting with Menzerna Intensive Polish to remove the swirls and scratches, then Menzerna Final Polish II to remove any micromarring left over from the first step, then finally Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze to deepen the finish. Shaun then protected the bodywork with Menzerna Full Molecular Jacket and added a final topcoat of Optimum Car Wax. The last tasks were to dress the tyres with Poorboy’s Bold N Bright, and clean and dress the engine bay with Autoglym Engine Cleaner and an Armorall dressing respectively. The results speak for themselves; incredible depth, unbelievable clarity, and a superb shine that will lets the metallic flake sing out in the sun.

Congratulations also to Andy Moody and Justin from ScoobyNet for doing cracking work on their Impreza’s, and to Findlay Leask and Andy Hartigan for doing some excellent correction work by hand on their cars – an MX5 and Mondeo respectively. Laugh of the month goes to Richard Beniston, who put his PC to good use and detailed his oven to perfection – nice work mate, cracking job!

Thanks Rich - it was bloody hard work doing it all by hand - worth it though in the finished result.

Andy.

Exactly - your work was equally as good as Shaun's, but he sent in more pics showing more of the work, and he included a few more refection shots, etc. When it comes down to choosing, the pics count for a lot, as we have to tell the full story. Always worth browsing previous winning entries for ideas.
