Default Polished Bliss back from hols...

We're back... kust as knackered as when we left, but as someone pointed out, Florida isn't a beach holiday! We've got a mound of e-mails, pm's and threads to go through, so bear with us, we'll try to catch up over the next few days. Cheers, Rich & Ange.

PS - the full JEFFS Werkstatt range is now in stock and available to order.

PSS - the out of stock Menzerna and Blackfire products will be back in by the middle of next week - the latest shipment has been badly delayed.

Question

Welcome back !! - When I went to florida 3 weeks ago they asked if I was you at properautocare - they said you was due over there the next week. there a nice bunch of people - and what a pain in the bum it was to find the shop.

When I got my PC I got the kit which included a backing plate and a white hi gloss professional constant pressue foam pad - (is this ok to use?) (its half white and blue with the velcro backing)

thanks

Justin

Lol, guess they were keen to see me! The kit you've got sounds fine, the white polishing pad is more than likely one of these...

All you need now is a bit of good weather to get stuck in!

Thumbs up

lol Yes that’s the pad - how abrasive is final polish 2?? as this will be my set-up (luckily Ive got a massive warehouse to clean the car in so the weather is not a problem)

setup will go like

Wash (usual way)
Clay
Intensive polish
Final polish 2
Blackfire polish
Blackfire wet diamond

Swirls are fine/medium

Do I really need to use final polish 2 ?

Thanks

Justin

Yes, IP leaves a good finish, but the clarity and gloss will benefit massively from the FPII step (it's a finishing polish, so only light cut, mainly used to enhance gloss to a mirror like finish). I used to leave it out sometimes, but never now - it's this step that generates amazing results arther then just good results.

Dont want to hijack the thread, hope you enjoyed your holiday. The WRX02 black is in need of some TLC, i'm gonna get a PC ordered this week, wondered if you could give me any advice on which pads to get - baring in mind i am a complete novice.

I'll also need polish, wax, clay bar and all that jazz. Can you also recommend which ones, like i say the car is black, with a little blue tinge to it. Would it be cheaper to get the gear from you ?

Cheers man

It would be cheaper to order a pad kit with the PC, but probably cheaper to get the products here in the UK due to pstage costs for extra weight. The Sonus SFX kit is perfectly okay for beginners, and gives good results. As for products, well, Meguiars Quik Clay is ideal for novices and works well, while the Menzerna polishes are great on Subaru paint. Intensive Polish will shift the swirls, while Final Polish II will bring out the gloss and leave a perfect finish for the last step product. On metallic blacks, my current favourite last step product is Blackfire Wet Diamond, as it gives a massively wet and glossy finish whilst still allowing the flake to pop when the sun comes out.
