I am now a Scooby Newbie again after about 40 attempts to log on using my old username etc. The site is so slow I can't believe it. That's progress I guess. Or is it some plot to get me to pay for Broadband?
Seriously though it is considerably slower

A quick read of some of the threads from Shaun and Simon (Webmasters) reveal that as this software is new to ScoobyNet there are some issues to iron out.
One of these is that the server cannot cope with the demand once levels rise to near 600 online.
Simon said earlier that they will be upgrading the server software to fix the problem.
Why can people not just bear with it for the moment. Yes it's a little frustrating, but the functionality of this new board, on the whole - is better. More and more tweaks will be done just as soon as they can and i reckon it will be better than before.

Speed seems fine to me. In fact pretty swift.
Try a different browser - I use Mozilla Firebird but it needs a fair bit of config (very customisable if that kinda thing turns you on). Otherwise try Opera which has all the bells & whistles there out of the box.

I've noticed that it's slow, but only when loading some things. Some pages load almost as quick, if not quicker than previously, but others take aaaaaaaaages.

Hi Guys
If you've been reading all of the discussions around known issues and current progress you'll know that we are working very hard on this.
We have come to a point where we think we have the most out of the current set-up that we can get, so have just (this morning) ordered a new state of the art server which will be up and running for the weekend.
We will work as hard as possible to get the actual site moved over to the new server by or before monday.
Please bear with us. This server comes at considerable expense, which was the reason why we've spent a week trying to wring the last drop of performance out of the current set-up.
All the best
Simon
