Hi guys, I have a 2004 sti with ecutek remap which has been parked on the drive for a couple of weeks as I have a newborn baby, and now has a flat battery. Just wondering what the procedure would be to jump start it using a neighbours car? Is there anything in particular I do/don't need to do? Thanks!

Buy the smart type. Worth the money. It will look after your battery if you don't use the Scoob so much. You can also plug it in with the battery connected to the car for the alarm etc.

 

Thanks for the quick responses! I might just refund my battery at work and purchase a new one. Is there any reason for not jumping it?

 

If the battery is totally dead, then jump starting it might not be enough - I'd do as Tubby says and take it off to charge it.

 

I believe your ecu won't appreciate it...
I was always getting flat batteries as I tend to use the car only once a week, so I purchased a C-tek conditioner...never had a problem since.

 

Jump starting can surge and blow ecu's so avoid unless you have a surge protector.

the car you have has a smart charge system so the battery will only pick a charge up if say the lights are on read the lable under the bonnet on the left hand side
