I get really bad wind noise from 60mph, and at 90mph it drives you crazy.It seems to be coming from where the side mirrors are.The rest of the car has wind deflectors but the bit where the wing mirrors are obviously does'nt.Any idea for fixes?

 

I'd be interested to know as well, gets hard to hear the stereo above 40 in mine.

 

I had wind noise at 70 and they re adjusted the drivers door for me.
Gone now.
They let the door out a little still just inline with the rest of the car.

Not sure if it's likely to be the same cause, but on the old shape scoobys there's a gap between the section of the wing mirror that can fold against the body (the bit with the glass in) and the mounting that's attached to the door.

The wind can whistle through the gap and make a right racket, especially at higher speeds. The cure is to fold the mirror flat against the car, and fix a piece of draft excluder running top to bottom of the now exposed inner edge of the mirror housing. When you fold the mirror back out into its normal position it fills the gap and stops the whistle. It's a low-tech solution, but it worked a treat on my Terzo.

 

Something that also happens is that the frameless doors don't always seat properly on the rubber door surrounds / seals - this can usually be cured by giving the seals a good clean down & possibly a bit of silicone polish (bumper black)just to smooth them

You'll be able to tell if this is the problem by 'pinging' the seal while you're going along & seeing if the noise changes

I had a really annoying noise sounding like it was a leaf stuck in the passenger air vent on my MY98. I've put up with it for ages, I got so frusrated I even had the dash pulled appart and checked all the vents with fibre optics only to find nothing at all.

Funny thing is, I only found out what is was about a month ago. Whenever the passenger door is opened and shut, the window doesnt seal correctly on the frame/rubber seal. So all i do to get rid of it is a quick down and up on the window switch. I think i may wack some lubricant on the runners.

I've got to admit, I felt a right muppet when i realised

 

Steve and Mike thanks alot.I think its one of those two reasons because thats exactly where the noise seems to be coming from.I'll try fixing it this weekend.

 

Keep some handy rennies or deflatine for your passengers as that may cut down on the wind especially at high speeds

(Someone had to do it. It might as well have been me)

More seriously, there was some method of jamming up the gap in the folding bit of the wing mirror where the wind whistles through - I think packing out with a bit of tape might work?

My MY00 doesn't do this. Swap?

you should try being in the back with windows down on the motorway for over an hour! drive you insane! Was stuck in a wierd position whilst bringing two bumpers back! Had a ear and *** ache.

 

Actually none of the above.I've just found some of the seal on the body where it connects with the door has fatigued.This is just where the noise comes from so I presume this is the problem.
