I got offered some Peregrine Falcon eggs in a pub once. They tasted horrible, couldn't see what the fuss was about. Not worth the money IMO.

I heard it was probably done by collecters, being as the two sites were surrounded by razorwire which they cut these rissoles must be reeeeal serious collecters,are birds eggs that valuable,I thought egg collecting was a victorian pastime,scum bags.

It's a bit bizarre really, these guys target "high profile" nests, i.e. well protected ones. It's like they get a kick out of beating the security.

So it's probably not only Ospreys they'll be after, but Golden Eagles, Golden Orioles and others.


Egg collecting was certainly a Victorian past-time but is still thriving now. Strangely it is almost unheard of anywhere else in Europe, and seems to be a peculiarly British problem.

Suffolkscoob - having lived in France, Belgium and Portugal, the reason it is British is because the rest of Europe have already shot to extinction anything that flies .
