Default EcuTec RaceRom Dual map power levels

So planning on getting the a the RaceRom map on the car to take advantage of the dual map feature.

The car is on standard internals with Cosworth head gaskets and ARP head bolts so not planning on going above the 1.35 bar boost. Am I right to think this should give me circa 360bhp?

My other question is what power level do people run for the 'road' map. I generally use the car for commuting so looking to maximise the fuel efficiency, but want to have enough to keep the car relatively rapid. Any comments on people's experience appreciated.

Also keen to know what peoples thoughts are on the available features.

TIA

Adam

I had about 1.2 bar on the road map and about 1.4 bar on the race map.

Cheers Chopperman. How does that transpire to power figures?

Did you have any of the features? Auto-blip etc.

1.35bar will miss out on a far chunk of torque.

1bar works okay as a economical map, howdver if you are driving it on boost its not going to be massively efficent anyway so if driving it hard your want full boost

Ecus very clearer at following a fuelling target off boost so driven gently it wouldnt matter whether on the high boost or low boost setting. With particular setting it will be more ecomincal off boost.

Tend to find its better to do same power on both map but one with throttle blip, launch control, flat shift on and perhaps some overrun noise and the other without, but depends entirely on what the owner prefers.

Cheers Si. I thought the general consensus was 1.35bar on standard internals. On the basis of the Cosworth gasket and ARP bolts is there scope to up this or are the pistons too fragile?

Ah yes over-run noise. Think I will be going for that one!!

The pistons are fragile but I dont find that boost related (within reason) more det related.

So provided the map is good and considers detonation, what sort of boost level do you believe is suitable for this set up?

Cheers

Depends on the car and how it reacts and responses when mapping.

Bob mapped mine to around 370, 1 map vpower, the other vpower + meth for spool, however he wouldnt take it over that figure due to pistons and i do agree with that, even then i was on the limit.
Ive since had the engine fully forged, but still have another 1k miles to put on it before i can max the 20g, then its on to bigger bettter things in the form of a gt30r

Different power levels for maps?!?!

Just use your right foot to regulate between performance and economy, mate!

How about one map with launch control, flatshift and autoblip enabled and the other with all the performance but none of the extra features selected?

From memory I think 1.3bar got me 350bhp/380lbs ft and that was on the PPP equipment, so better exhaust etc... should get you even better results

I agree with NS 04, my Hawk is running two power levels one at 1 bar and the other at 1.55 bar (forged), and all features enabled. But I never seem to run the lower map. I am about to fit a front mount and Harvey up pipe soon, so will have it tweaked by Simon for duel fuel maps I think.

I got 360/433 and yes i had the auto blip, flat foot shifting (my fav) and launch control (never used it). More than the power though was the drivabilty and response difference. Transformed the car.

Just one other question about the RaceRom setup, can you change between maps whilst on the move? I.e. accelerator fully depressed and press rear de-mister?

Cheers

Yes it can. Put car in high gear so it doesn't take off. press accelerator pedal to the floor, press rear demister switch on then off then let the peddle up. If in road the cel light will flash once, if in race it will flash 8 times.

Was this the setup you were running when your pistons failed as you mention on another post about the 2.5's ?

Yes but i believe there may have been hairline cracks in a couple of the pistons before the map as the car smoked on start up sometimes. Although it would have been running slightly less power before the racerom map i have no idea if it had det issues as it was the previous who had it re-mapped.

That is the problem mate. At least now i have a fresh forged engine that's only ever run on the best fluids including 99ron fuel. Some people are just not aware of the different fuels and why they should be used.
