A lot depends on how far you are planning on going. The WRX intercooler is okay to about 350 bhp, if you are going to go as far as 400 bhp get a STi one. Above that you could require a front mount, but using a front mount does cause it's own issues. In that you are likely to have to remove the airbox and fit an induction kit. This can cause problems with the MAF sensor as the turbulent airflow can affest the reading also ingress of water can be a problem/ If you are looking at fitting a after market ECU that uses a MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) swith an induction kit is fine.

That clears that up a treat. No Fmic for me . Because my car is standard engine wise I'm looking for a few basic mods, nothing silly that's going to need a service every 10 miles or cause me to get around 8 mpg but something a little extra to maybe 280 bhp. Any suggestions chaps ?

Up rated fuel pump, sports cat, panel filter and a remap would be a good start.

What he said^^^

When you declare your mods, you will pay MORE than to insure an STi.

You WERE going to declare, weren't you?

I like the look of a front mount but fitted a new age Wrx to my classic, it's larger and good for 350 so I'm told and been as all I'm want is 300 then all is good

in some cases this is untrue my wrx+mods(290bhp dyno'd) was £108 more than my supra that was 380bhp
i asked about a sti in standard spec they would not quote due to being under 25.

so it all down to personal circumstances
