Default Best brakes to upgade to

Was looking to upgrde my brakes and cant decide/know which ones would be best to go for. I have been looking at second hand Brembos and K-sport but not to sure what size would b best is a case of the bigger the better? Have got 18" prodrive wheels so size prob limited. Have any of you guys got prefrences or experiences of all the various makes?

I have had Ksport 330mm on my car for 5 years now, I have used DS2500 pads they were good, and I have used PF01 race, they were very good
never had problems with them.
with 18 you can goto 356mm

Value for money has got to be some second hand Brembos! If money isn't an issue its AP 6 pots!

have just read that the bigger pot brake dosent mean that its better ie 8 pot and bigger as the brakes dont brake evenly and cause heat spots. and best to stay to 4-6 pot brakes.

I was in the same situation a couple of years back. Looked at K-sports and a whole host of new packages, including the porsche conversion from Powerstation. But I decided to wait for a second hand set of AP 6 pots to come up, (which consistently came back as the best to get). Which, eventually, they did. I wasn't disappointed. Wait and buy a good set second hand is my advice.

I put word out with the popular breakers, place a wanted ad on here and regularly checked the classifieds on here too. It's luck too - be ready in the right place at the right time.

I upgraded my wrx brakes to a full set of STI Brembos and 330 front discs, really pleased with them and they look great. Waiting to fit my rear brembos at the moment. You do get the odd set come up for sale on here, and I can highly recommend them. I did look at the k sports, they are very nice but didnt have the funds at the time butI wanted to upgrade the front and the rears and the brembos were the best option for me... no regrets!

Lots of options, best will always be AP (or possibly the Alcons from Litchfield).

K-Sports get very good press and are much more keenly priced, other option would be a set of Brembos but they are not comparable to proper aftermarket performance brakes.

Bet my car gets used even less than yours

Fair point though, 2K is an awful lot of money for some front brakes (did see a set sell on here for a grand earlier this year) but you get what you pay for. These are one of the best out there which is why they cost the earth.

I have AP4 pots on my blob wagon and they stand it on it's nose, some say that the 6pots are over kill for the road, and you need to make sure you get pads with good cold bite, otherwise you will have problems with stopping when cold.

Tarox 6 pots on mine which work very well, needed the hatch 2 pot brembo's on the rear to balance the car on heavy braking though.
