Default uhh oohh! think i done something wrong!?

Hi everyone... I was just about to swap my turbo on my 03 wrx. Never done anything like this before and doesn't look so hard!

So took the intercooler off, then started to take the pipes off the turbo..

Then all of a sudden I took the top pipe off and greenyy sort of fluid pisssed out everywhere!!

What is it?

Plenty of WD40 (other products available) on bolts, leave it to soak in. Give it hell with hex socket not multi head or bolt heads will round off.

Irwin bolt grip nut removers, if any of those nuts are still seized. A bit pricey, but worth every penny IMO (available from Screwfix, amazon, ebay, etc).

im in the process of swapping my turbo,i have removed all the bolts etc, there is a rubber coolant pipe that goes on the bottom of the turbo, and im struggling to see how you would get the clip back on it.as i pulled the turbo up(on removal) i looked at this hose and the clip didnt look like it was on before,it was about an inch and a half further down the hose,in effect not actually gripping the hose tight.
is this just a drain hose?i realise it should be put back on ideally.....but how????
replacement turbo is now fiited, but im a little worried about this.any ideas?

Mine not got that clip on after my turbo change. If you grease the pipe and push it well on it won't leak. It's only the oil return pipe, doesn't take much oil and isn't under pressure.

ok,i havent greased it,just gave turbo a good shove downwards, and it seems to have located back in place,.......so do i not need to worry about it then?
just leave the clip off?i really cant see how it is physically possible to put it back on?

that oil return pipe just put a jubilee clip at the bottom and makes life easier to fit and guaranteed not to leak ,
as for the coolant pipes old spark plugs fit nicely to stop them leaking.

I got all the bolts out bar one! This ones a right b.....h! Haha... Just left it to soak over night in WD40.. Its the one on the underside of the bell mouth joint! The last one I didn't notice! And as soon as that's off I should be fine. Also going to have a go at taking the Uppipe off hopefully its simple! Is there any easy way on doing this? From under neath or ?

Thanks again! Jamie

with the turbo off,
push the rubber pipe onto the metal one
tighten the jubilee up
refit the turbo

so when you try to refit the turbo the pipe dont keep sliding down and easier to line up been doing it years

I know it's a bit late but advice for other for the future. Run the car for 10 minutes or more and then crack the turbo nuts and bolts the heat will help.

yes and make sure you soak penetrating oil on the bolts otherwise these may also give you a problem.

It's a lot easier to take off if the turbo's coming off too. Otherwise you have to manoeuvre it off from under the car, and there's only just enough room to twist it past the various bits and pieces down there it has to fit past to come out.
