Default external wastegate

hi guys just wondered if anyone got an external wastegate fitted due to me wanting to get one. couple of questions ??

1. what does it do
2.how does it fit i.e what do you need to fit it etc.
3.and are they any good pros and cons with them cheers

the external wastegate has the little pipe coming off and is used to control the boost on a turbo with no internal gate

2.You are really don't need this,this is mainly used on Rotated setups,on Standard location you can use,but in my view is waste of money on standard location turbo...

thanks banny ive put a few posts on here and you have answered nearly every one and very helpfull so i have to have it welded to my down pipe then wot are advantages in them mate i just want one lol sound the bollox

No problem, we all started by asking questions and garnerning knowledge from those in the know

I agree with Jura on a standard position turbo I would not bother but the sound you are looking for is from the screamer pipe.

You could get that by running a seperate pipe from the wastegate on the turbo and vent it to atmosphere.

so i dont need a wastegate then just get a screemer pipe. to get turbo chatter sounds much better than a pump valve. the only reason i was going to have wastgate was because ive got a vf 34 and keep hearing that they suffer with boost creep so would this sort that out or not thanks again

Easier to just the port the wastegate penny and that should cure any boost creep

see thats what i was going to do i put a thread up about it but no reply could i do this my self and how much do i port it by. as in the penny you mean the circle thing that covers the hole sorry for being so thick first scooby and all that

Yes the circle thing that covers hole, I like the description Its not something I would do myself if you have no experience to be honest...

Depending on where you are based, scoobyclinic should be to do this for you no problem
