I believe both the VF34/35 turbos suffer from boost surge at higher revs, and that this is typically addressed by porting the wastegate.
I'm having my VF35 ported before it's fitted for this exact reason.

With a decat fitted the wastegate just does not have enough flow to "slow" the turbo down so as revs increase , boost increases it has nothing to do with boost control. The exhaust gases mostly just flow through the turbine instead of wastegate hole

You could have the most expensive boost controller and still will not solve this. Porting the wastegate and a slightly stronger actuator is the way

If you are mechanically minded I reckon you could do it yourself with the right tools.
I live in Ireland so I woudnt know anyone who does that over in the Uk.

If you put a thread up for attention of some traders I'm sure they could do it for you, the main cost is stripping the turbo off the car

Porting to avoid boost creep is a common mod on both VF34 and 35. You may not get boost creep and will only know once the turbo is in service.
All that I do to resolve boost creep is port the wastegate aperure at the penny valve flap using a compressed air die grinder. The circumference is opened out slightly, must remain smooth and concentric. At the same time I usually port the exhaust inlet to suit whichever of my uppipes are in use.

I know I am pretty good but if I don't have the turbo here I might have a little bit of difficulty. If you have nothing better to do you can bring it of course, stay in a hotel overnight and take it home the next day.
No photos.
WG and exhaust inlet ported £50 plus delivery back to you.

For 50 sheets I'd say get it in the post now. Once you've bought the bit required to do it yourself your on the way to £50 and you could guff it up!

am i right in saying then, that once this is done, the car requires a remap or tweak to the current map?

If the car had boost creep before and the mapper was aware and tried to cure this you would now need an adjustment to the wastegate duty cycles to get the absolute best out of it but it would be a very fine and detailed adjustment.
