I've done mine occasionally, just don't try to pressure wash the intercooler - it bends the fins.

Question

When I bought mine, a new UK MY99 I was told by the dealer do not steam clean the engine. The greeny fluid all over it was to protect it.

And to be honest I don't look under the bonnet so I don't really care.

Are you selling?

IMHO an engine bay that is too clean is suspect. i.e. is there a major leak that the seller is trying to hide.

No I'm not selling. Its just that after seeing all the pics of clean engine bays and especially after all the bad weather I thought that I would give the car a full spring clean.
There was some oil on the engine after the last ScoobySport service which spilt from when the gearbox was being filled. They tried to clean it off but suggested that I went for a steam clean afterwards to do a proper job. That was 2000 miles ago and I'm only now getting aroud to it.

You could enlist the help of Wax Wizard.

I'll vouch for enlisting the help of the Waxwizard.

I had Mark clean the engine bay of my P1 last December and even now after all the ****
we've been having it still looks like new.

I'm not sure what he used to clean it & protect it with but it's certainly effective.
