Question Is this any good??

Stumbled across this intercooler on scoobyworld
http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/catalog...oducts_id=1752
I think my V7 STI intercooler is leaking boost, so i'm looking for a replacement, seeing as my previous purchase seems to be crap, i want something new without crippling my wallet.
What do you guys think??

I'm not sure but these TMIC are very similar to Japspeed for lower price at Japspeed or Madmotors

Matt, I've also considered getting a non genuine I/C like the one you mention for my Hawk WRX prior to having it mapped. I've also looked at the second hand STI ones which have either been in my humble opinion, somewhat overpriced or look like sh!te and wouldn't look out of place on a scrap heap, in fact they'd lower the tone. As I'm only going to be running max 320 GG's I don't want to fit a front mount so have been looking at the STI I/C and scoop under-tray. The ones in the first reply to your thread are as far as I know available with all the pipework, albeit I have to extend the lower pipe for my car as they are a straight fit for the STI. I'm surprised that no one has tried one of these after-market versions as one can soon make a stencil and spray the STI logo on with quick squirt of heatproof paint. I'm pretty tempted as I'm convinced that the airflow through these intercoolers would be an improvement on my WRX one and ought to be at least as good as the standard STI one. So basically I'm watching with interest lol.

regards

Tim

Cheers for that info, I appreciate it. I'll spend the allocated money for the I/C elsewhere on the car.

320-340 max, more interested in getting the torque levels high as poss without getting to the point where I put the engine/gearbox at undue risk, the HP for me is just a by-product.
The car is around the 300 mark at the moment, but due a map, once I've replaced the fuel pump and the last few bits under the bonnet.

cheers

Tim

From the seam on the drivers side, where the core is formed to the top of the intercooler. It whistles when under full boost, making the car so laggy and not as much fun to drive.

Hi there probably much better for you will be maybe FMIC(your mapper can tweak map for FMIC and induction kit),if not try to source cheap Hypeflow TMIC(in US guys using and buying the TurboXS TMIC and overall are happy)

Good luck with the wedding plans Matt, life's adversities seem a little easier to overcome with someone to share the good and bad with. I had a good number of years between marriages lol, travelled a lot of the world and eventually got wed again and have to say I operate better with a good woman to help me find my way through the maze lol. Besides, there's always someone on hand to pass the spanners and say the latest bit of trim looks cool. I'm not wanting to go for a new box either, so trying to balance everything out to a point where I can enjoy tinkering with the car without it being a financial burden that becomes a negative talking point. Yes, someone must have tried those after-market I/Cs and the company wouldn't be placing themselves in a great position by saying that they offer increased flow if the claim happens to be contrary to reality. I also accept there are genuine exceptions to some of my previous remarks, though it's not always easy to sort the crap from the cream. I'm a bit long in the tooth to be doing doughnuts in the local DIY store car park and don't drive my car in a way where I suddenly drop the full force of the engine's performance onto the drive-train, so hopefully I can have good torque figures with my 2.5 engine and use them wisely.

all the best

Tim
