HELP!!! Scooby wont drive stuck in neutral
I was wondering if any could help me with a problem I have -
I have a worn CV joint which i knew was on its way out, but today when driving I hit a hole in the road and stopped. Then when setting off i went through 1st to 2nd then heard crunch.
Now the car wont move when leaving the clutch out in gear, all i get is a tapping (tinging) coming from engine when I let my clutch out and the car will not drive.
I have been told by a few different people that it is either the driveshaft, clutch or gearbox
If it was the driveshaft shouldn't the other 3 wheels still drive?
Any suggestions or help would be appriciated....
Also if its the gearbox does anyone know how much it would cost to replace
Thanks
Andy

it sounds like the clutch has gone mate and if so it would be about £220 for the clutch kit plus fitting mate, and that all depends on who you use and how they charge per hour, its about a 3/4 hour job.
if it was the clutch, wouldn't you have trouble getting it in gear? i can select all gears. also the clutch pedal has the same amount of pressure (stiffness) as when it was working?
ah now he says lol, well in that case it could very well be gearbox mate, and in that case its worse really as a box is more than a clutch and usually the clutch is not far worn out and warrents changing so even more expence as its not really sensible to have to remove the box again in 1/2k miles to replace clutch.
I had exactly the same when I broke a driveshaft (on a FWD car), a clinking noise as the shaft rotated but no drive.
Of course a Subaru is 4wd, but if the centre limited slip diff is fubar (not uncommen) and its a front shaft, then it could still be just a shaft.
Look underneath, is one front output spinning when its sat in gear clinking away? if so its a driveshaft.
