For mortals on a limited budget I'd suggest a premium (Goodyear/Toyo etc) road tyre. 888s do work in the wet as long as the track is not awash when they can give you a fright.
I have used Bridgestone 050's on track before in damp conditions, weren't too bad, anything were it is wet some T1r's will do the job you are just not going to be going as fast as you will be when its dry.
