I'm relatively new to Subarus. Had it for a month now, 07plate wrx.

could someone tell me what this is

i know it's something to do with the alarm?alarm sensor?

previous owner had some blitz gauges that he never fitted, well i bought a triple gauge pod for the A-pillar without realising that it actually covers this sensor up.

Will I have any issues once it's fitted? will it interfere with the alarm going off/not going off?

 

Its just a movement sensor for the alarm. You will have one on the other piller mate so it dont really matter about covering it up imo !

So how do the movement sensors work exactly?
By blocking it does it not interfere with it?

 

you should just be able to move it further up or down the A-Pilar.
Think it works by movement IE if it detects any it goes so if the window is broken and glass falls past it or the door is opened some climbs in ect ect...

If you cover it up it just means it cant detect any movement......

 

^So not a good idea to cover it up then.

Has anyone fitted one of these guage pods?

 

well if its a decant alarm then the doors windows and boot would have shock sensors on so really it does not matter about the movement sensor!

Why not just extend it so its above the pods!

 

It's just the standard Subaru alarm, so not sure it that's decent or not

 

Hmmm that would be a bit extreme, i mean the pod fits over the sensor i just wasn't sure if it'll cause issue with the workings of the alarm

or why not cut a hole in the pod so the sensor can see (so to speak)

 

Yes relocate it above the top pod it should just unscrew! Have you thought about putting the gauges in the centre console on top, they would look and fit a lot better, some of the A pillar mounts can look a bit tacky it you ask me but that's just my opinion

 

Problem is I don't really want to lose the clock you see or the alarm led
