Default Private reg transfer?

I have a private plate I want to take off retention and put on my new motor.

If I was able to get to my local DVLA office will this be done the same day - or will I still have to wait the normal 7-10 days?

Cheers

We went to Reading last week to do the same thing, basically they do what you could do at home, we still had to wait for the paper work to turn up in the post, They dont issue the new logbook, tax and MOT at the local office.
We had to drive an hour to get there so all in all found it to be a waste of time.

So basically all you're doing is doing away with the posting of the documents - well worth the effort then

Thats pretty much it, instead of posting the stuff to Swansea you take it to your local office, I think it must have saved us a day at best.

If the plate is on retention and its being put onto a car that has a run of the mill plate its done same day. i have done several. If you require a plate allocating to the car (if your removing your private plate) then its not done as DVLA have to allocate a plate.

Guess it depends on Office tho. Chelmsford issue replacement MOT & Tax disc there/Then just the logbook gets posted out to you. Might be worth a call to the local office,
