Default what turbocharger?

I am thinking of buying a new turbocharger and wanting opinions on what to buy, i have been looking at the td5s today can anyone else sugest otherwise? my car is a 99 uk turbo,

What power will the td5 give me? mods on car so far are exhaust, decat & pannel filter and when i get the turbo remap from jolly green monster, i was going to leave the car standard but thats never the case, i hope to see 300 bhp

also what does 16g and 20g mean?

thanks in advance

Hi, im no turbo expert but the one thing i do know is that right now 300bhp might seem like alot but its not really that much compaired to most on here, and once you get the bug you'll be well and truly bitten,so whatever you go for make sure its capable of taking you further, id be looking at least another 30bhp and more like 50

Nearly all turbos apart from what you aleady have (TD04) will see you 320BHP+

I had a Vf28 (Standard on STI5/P1s) on my old uk My99, this had around 320-330 BHP and was a very nice car to drive with the UK gearing

Remember that a TD05 wont fit a MY99. Youll need to budget for the machining too: which might make an IHI turbo more attractive.

Another vote for VF28 from the P1. This is ideal for what your planning to do at the moment. A MY99 runs 440cc (Yellow?) injectors as standard and with the remap once the VF28 is fitted you shoud see 310-320 easily. Won't go much more than that in the future though, as I beleive 330ish on a VF28 is max.

Yes its a straight fit matey, also look out for a VF23 which is basicly the same turbo. As for price wise,£200 or under is a good buy for any of these two second hand.

TD05-16g takes some beating imho. VF28/4s are fragile and not service friendly.

Can be picked up cheap enough and just needs a FE cover to fit yours.

Also looking to replace my standard td04 on my 99 uk turbo so would be interested in one of these if they are a straight bolt on upgrade.
