Default What would £3000 get you??

I was considering having some engine work done on my MY98 STI Type R and have a budget of £3000. What would this get you? Would you simply get a standard engine or would you get something more exciting. Also I would probably want the gearbox rebuilding to freshen it up, how much would that set you back?? Obviously I know the list can go on and on but just want some ball park ideas to mull over.

Cheers
Andy.

2.1 stroker motor, better bottom end torque, but still a revvy 2 litre type engine...

IMHO

I agree with Dunx. That over £3k though, around the £3600 mark I think, but will be worth it

I wouldnt say its a waste, money well spent in my opinion

what ever you do with your money 3k will make your car alot better.

if you wanted you could just do the brakes AP 6pots front and 2 pot rears for £2300
and spend the 700 left on the suspension.
3k gone with out touching the engine

Trust me once you start you WILL not stop.

I brought my car for £2750 and have spent nearly 4k in six months, the funny thing is i have never enjoyed spending money moreand the wifes changed from clothes to shopping for ra bits also
Next is sim-tek ecu and map £1150 with antilag and launch control
Front mount intercooler £400

next years plans are also in place

Laterals MD321 turbo £1600
and some 740 injectors.£600

Then i will be happy, but then theres the brakes,it goes on and on and on on on on. to be honest i dont think i can see a finishing point with the car.

welcome to the bug

lets us know what you decide to spend your FIRST £3k on

nathan

Haha. I really wish it was that simple but the engine has developed a very slight small end rattle when you give it some and I want to sort it before it completely gives up on me. I know I could just get another engine from a breaker and save money that way but I dont want to have to worry about the quality of the replacement engine. If I get it completely rebuilt by a reputable tuner (recommendations welcome) then I can have more faith in the car and grow to like it again. The **** take is that I havent had it that long at all, I guess these things are sent to try us.......

Thanks for the replies
Andy.
