The petrol engine remaps very well. 250+hp and 300lbs ft torque from a Revo Map. Go to JKM Performances website for graphs off the rolling road.

The Diesels are proving more tricky to map because of the DPF. Superchips had to detune their original map after problems. The filters get clogged up and in an extreme case have caught fire.

Take a look on briskoda.net - there a couple on there very cheap both 07 both the right side of £10K.
There is a red VRS TFSI estate that is particularly galling - paid over £1k more for an 06 estate with less spec in December! Boy do I wish I had waited! TFSI btw is Turbo FSI engine.
Great car for the money - 400 Miles from a a tank is possible - quick comfy, relatively quiet and good build quality. Its not a scoob but it does surprise people! Oh beware they really prefer Suiper Unleaded its what they were designed to run on!

try and get climate at the least, the only option I really wanted were xenon's but there wasnt any in my price range (cheap
) with xenons fitted, the maxidot is quite a good extra though, the sat nav is crap tbh, but at least I didnt pay £1500 or so to have it, it does look better than the standard stereo mind.not planning a remap at the mo, I'm happy as it is,

Insurance seems surprisingly good cost £15 for the 3 months remaining - that was replacing a Mondeo Estate TDCi130 group 10 v group 16.
Economy - depends on your right foot - seen low 20's and seen mid 30's - some have even got 500+ out of a tank (55litres) we get 330-350 but not had a long run yet.

Oh just to add the red VRS estate 07 reg for £9850 is a real bargain and he is willing haggle - we would have jumped at that if we did not already have one. Oh and I hate red cars - they need care to ensure they do not fade.
And yes i would have travelled to Edingburgh for such a bargain!

I've got a red diesel vRS and it is properly quick once it's rolling. I can see 50mpg on a long 65-70mph motorway run and it's very well equipped.
It's big enough for 2 kids but I do cover the pale seat insets in the back to prevent little feet marking them.
Watch out for uneven tyre wear on the rears as they suffer from dodgy camber settings. My dealer cocked up the re-alignment too as they were feckless.
It runs out of revs at 4500rpm though

My mate has had one for 8 months now, he's been running it as a company car. He loves it, he had a Mk1 Oct VRS before, and says this is as good. His has 18's and xenons (not sure if standard) in a nice blue. It does look pukka. His is the petrol 2.0 TFSi (company fuel card!) and I'm sure he's got it mapped to around 240ish BHP.
