Default Classics: Squeaky Wipers?

Hi,

As per the title wanted to see if this is a common problem or just unique to my car.

I have a 2000 reg STi Type RA, recently had a new windscreen fitted by Autoglass and noticed the wipers squeak and vibrate a little when in use.

In heavy rain I don't notice them much but at slower speeds the kind of stick in the middle of the screen for a millisecond.

I have also installed new bosch wipers but not made a difference - is there a way of improving the performance of the wipers and getting rid of the damn squeaking?

Cheers,

Fz

try some rainex on the glass.

i take it you've cleaned the glass since autoglass fitted it (with proper glass cleaner)

seems unusual, but as you've changed the wipers, next thing would be look at the surface of the glass and do something with that.

good luck

Try claying the glass to.

Do the wider make that squeaking noise with them up of the screen?

bend/twist the arm of the wiper to change the angle of the blade on the window - should sort it

Make sure you have some windscreen wash in your bottle? Usually helps to lube the wipers

Ah bugger, you know I suspected that as well but as the car has been stored for ages I didn't get time to check it until recently when I decided to put it back on the road.

I have eliminated most of the problems by adjusting the wipers and refitting the new blades but will have a chat with AutoGlass to see if I can get some info on the problem (I doubt they will refit it but worth a try).
