9/10 by the time the detector has warned you its too late you've probably been zapped.

Wink

you'd be better off with a "Garage Door" opener

PM me if you are interested - I have a spare one for the right kind of money.

Radar detectors are good, give you bplenty of warning of Gatso Speed Cameras.
As above Laser detectors not as good or reliable, My Target 100 Jammer went off on a dark night and turned out to be a nasty policeman pointing a laser gun at me. However, my Bell Euro 550 laser detector never made a sound.
Therefore for Laser , Jammer rules.

I have a road angel compact with the laser detetor on top. You can pick how far in advance you have it set up for warnings (upto 1000m) which is great for gatsos if you're driving somewhere unfumiliar.
The laser detector is good but not as good as the jammers. You have to be quick on the brakes (if you happen to be speeding which i never do)

You're talking £100 for the road angel, £50 for the laser detector add on then if i remember correctly its £50 a year subscription for the updates.

Jonny

p.s you get a nice g.p.s speed readout on the front of it

I got a road angel from the motor show with the laser gizmo adjustment. You still have to have your wits about you when your driving but it does work.

I find it most useful when im in a town or city I dont know that well, it tells me about fixed sites, sites that are used for routine mobile cameras and also informs me if im driving past an automatic shop door......

Still I have not been caught since I got it so it must be doing something right.

My road angel has informed my in advance of detecters, if the law are zapping people infront of you it can detect the over spill from the guns and will set off a warning, so you can cruse past them at normal speeds. If you are the one in front thought it will be to late..........

Most Sat navs warn you of Gatso's etc, i used to have a tgt LRC 100 garage door opener and saved me a few times, well worth the money and i got it for approc £199, you need to get it tested though as positioning is everything.

I have a road angel compact with the laser add-on like some people above, but have no faith at all in the laser detector part. It seems to ping off alerts randomly and I have never seen a van or a camera that would have triggered it.

In some cases its not just one alert it gives me but 4 or 5 one after the other. I got so pi55ed off with it that I unplugged it. I did a bit of reading up and it seems as though the sun on a bright day through the windscreen can play silly buggers with it. So am a bit unsure of the reliability now.

Alot of the laser/Radar detectors go off with the sensors on Automatic shop doors and the movement sensors on top of traffic lights.

Where I live there aren't too many traffic lights or shop doors . It happens on the A9 (Inverness - Perth) or north of there, where there is absolutely nothing but hills. Odd .

Mine does that too, So far it has not missed a van, although it has given me lots of false alerts.
I will put up with the screaming "WARNING SAFETY CAMERA AHEAD" when infact there is just a bit of sunshine all the time it picks up the real ones.
The day it misses a van then its out the window.
