BOOST!!!!!!
Any body good at diagnosing boost issues?
My wagon has always overboosted the only way to control it is to back the actuator arm right off. Its got a 3 port solenoid on it if I pull the pipe off that goes to the wastegate the boost doesnt change. Tonight I ran a pipe from the solenoid into the car to see if anything came out of it. When it was boosting it was passing air in a pffft pffft pffft pffft type of affair as it reved more it seemed to increase and when I let off the accelerator it it made a long pfffffffft. Does it sound like the soleniod is working if so whats my next step. Also what kind of pressure should come out of the solenoid as i plumbed it into a boost gauge and it was fluttering to about 2-3 psi.
Sorry for the essay but after 6 months of this its doing me in.

What does it show, normally on your boost gauge? Are you sure your boost control solenoid is plumbed in correct?

Dependant on car, standard boost should be 0.8bar ish.

At the moment its running about 0.8 bar but thats cos I have just adjusted the actuator arm. With it becoming colder again its started to overboost.
If I was to set it to 0.8 bar at lunch time when its warm (outside temp) it would overboost stupidly if I was to go out in it now cos its colder its as though there is no control or very little control on it.
As for it being plumbed in right I dont know.

The bottom pipe goes the turbo I think, middle pipe defo goes to actuator and unsure about top pipe.

I may be wrong, but, I think the bottom port is a vent.

You are right goes into air box.
Gonna plumb actuator direct to turbo see if it opens wastegate, if so check all turbo-actuator-bcs pipes.
Thanks for replying.

Quick update.

Replaced pipe that comes off turbo onto top of bcs and one that comes off actuator to side of bcs. I noticed that pipe off turbo had a restrictor pill in it I left that out. Took car for a drive and was only boosting to about 0.6 bar but after a while of driving only boosted to about 0.3 bar.

Refitted restrictor pill and took car for another spin but was no different. I fitted bleed valve to see if it would boost higher which it did.

Any ideas what next.

Been out in again tonight, started overboosting again so took bleed valve off, still over boosting. When on high boost it also pops and farts.
Do you think drilling the restrictor out will help me at all ? as the hole in it looks tiny Id say quite a bit less then 1mm.

ive had sort of the same prob as you. mine keeps over boosting when i floor it and i cant seem to get it stable no mater what i do with the actuator.and i disconnected all the soilinoid hoses. so i think the actuator fooked iam going to order a new one from forge as they sell direct fit ones so no messing bout.
