Chuck the cones!!
I had a cone filter fitted and ive just changed back to the standard one. My intake temps before were 25-30 when pottering about and up to 63 when booting it. Now its 20-25 when pottering and up to 50 when booting it. It also pulls so much better.
No it wasnt cheap, no it wasnt mapped for it and yes it had a cold feed. But two of them questions dont come into it as they wont effect the temp and thats what its all about keeping things cool

It's no surprise, really. I forget how it is on the later cars, but on my '95 STI the standard intake system draws air from inside the driver's side wing, which has an intake vent below the indicator - ie. cold. An induction kit, however, draws air from directly inside the engine bay, so no wonder it's warmer.
