Default Turbo advice!!!

I want to get my uk turbo to 300bhp. I have the option of getting a vf 28 P1 turbo or a td05 turbo.

What one should I choose?

I don't really want to take it above 300bhp so its not about what their maximum capability is its about durability or as a turbo where in the rev range/gears they are more pwerful.

Thanks!

The VF28 is good for around 320 bhp and has very good spool up, where as the TD05 is good for 350 bhp and is a very reliable unit, but doesnt spool up as quick as the VF28.

Another option would be a VF34, which are good for around 340 bhp.

If like you say your gonna stick to around the 300bhp mark (which you probably wont )then the VF28 would be best

I've got a VF35 off my V7STI, capable of 340 bhp and around 1.5 bar of boost.
PM if interested !

If you'd be happy with 300, and want the best spool, TD04 hybrid.

Next to TD04 turbo variants, the VF35 is the quickest to spool and can also be obtained more cheaply than the VF34. The 35 is a 340bhp capable turbo.

I've been told you cant get the VF28 rebuilt, due to parts supply? dont know if thats gen or not though.
A mate has one but with a blade missing of the compressor wheel.

Will the vf35 just bolt onto my99 uk turbo, or will i need to modify at all ?

Thanks.

Does it spool up noticably quicker than the td04 ?

Does it just bolt on to the exsisting mountings or do you need stuff to convert it?

Speak soon
Tom.

The td04 will spool up loads quicker than the td05 because its a smaller turbo so doesnt need as much exhaust gases to get it going
