why don't they invest in new technology to catch real criminals and not just keep finding ways of robbing the motorist. This government seems to be targeting us now that they are loosing money on cigarettes and drink.

F**king hell you now need eyes in the top of your head too

Will be too busy looking in the mirrors, in the sun roof, 1/2 a mile down the road and at the Speedo the cyclists and horses have no chance now

they have unmanned drones checking vehicle speeds in the states, this was about 2 years ago. This was in the middle of a desert.

i doubt it will happen here, its too built up.

"Some military drones are also fitted with missiles, enabling them to engage the enemy".

I can see where they're going with this ... CO2 rating above 100 = lock on & launch!

Agree with Henrik - this sh1thole of a country is turning into a police state. France, or anywhere other than here is looking increasingly attractive

They are to inconsistant to fly and would end up crashing as approx 70% of desert hawks do overseas!!!

Also the dont go that fast and are very weather dependant, also the range differs from 1km to approx 100km depending on size and model, although saying that some of the yank ones can be flying in Iraq but cotrolled from USA.(SATELLITE SIGNALS).
Also have to be calibrated etc for accurate reading.

Maybe used for high criminal stuff but speeding, i dont beilieve it one bit.

Excuse the pun but how many false flags will these dumb machines produce? I can just see a brown envelope coming through the door with a fine regardless of the fact that you were speed or not simply because the drone is doing what it does best - generating more revenue.

No it wouldn't... What's wrong with normal old fashioned policing?

I don't agree to being filmed constantly when I'm not doing anything wrong, and if that means that petty crime is a little bit higher as a result, then fine - that's a trade off I'm willing to make.

Not that I think that the cameras stop petty crime anyway. Of all the countries I've been to, the UK seems to have the highest level of petty crime, street violence, grafitti etc etc.

I'm not saying that other countries don't have problems, but this surveillance society gets right on my ****.

And in London we're told about 30 times a day on the tube that CCTV has been installed on this station for your safety

I still can not believe that England - safe England for crying out loud - has the most CCTV in the *WORLD* (Do CCTV cameras make you feel safe or scared? - Telegraph BBC NEWS | UK | Britain is 'surveillance society')

How am I going to start a revolution and overthrow the government with all these bloody cameras everywhere, that's what I'd want to know!

Edit: uh, black helicopters landing on the lawn outside

They will get it to work if it can bring in revenue. I mean all they have to do is catch the amount of motorists doing over 70mph (or lets say 10% over 70 i.e. 77mph) and they will get that cost back in a month.

It will happen eventually....
