As the maf is known for ending engines, it would be the last thing i would try and clean. Lose the pipercross and fit a k&n followed by a brand new maf. While you are waiting to get this lot sorted, i wouldn't drive the car anywhere.
Lambda is in the downpipe

ok best not try cleaning the maf ... just read somewhere that you could spray it with carb cleaner to try and clean it ...

as said the post i put up was only from what i have read ..

when you say replace the pipercross filter for a k and n and take it you mean panel filter ???

I had a k&n cone without issue for 5 years on my MY99, i did however replace the maf every 2 years regardless. I understand that cleaning the maf if possible with the method you have mentioned but like i say, the maf can end your engine - £80 versus £3k +
