yep, you guessed it. ok maybe not.

took me maybe 1.5 - 1.75 hours in total darkness with only a halogen light to fit these babies



theyre the apline sxe 1325s 5.25 (13cm) coaxial speakers. after realising i didnt have to foof about with components (thanks mr stingy subaru interior designer), i thought 'what the hell', and picked these up from my local motor world today just before closing time.

£22.99 and halfords wanted £40 for the same ones. makes sense to shop around

so i popped off the doorcards which was easy enough, and realised it was gonna be pretty easy. only pain was figuring out screwing in points as i was to use the original adaptor plates.

ended up using only 2 screws each side which hold very firmly in place.

couldnt be @rsed with cables etc, so i remembered which colour wire went on which terminal thingy (blue big, red small by the way) and just sliced from the old and wired onto the new. bit of electricians tape held them firm and then mounted back into door frame...

each sde...





as you can see by using the standard plugs and re-wiring on the speaker itself, i think ive kept it neat and tidy.

errugh!!! horrible old speakers...



5.25 inches is enough for me (oooh err) and the sound difference for such little expense is amazing. beofre i filtered most the sound to the rear alpine 6.5" speakers, where asnow its 50:50 and i can really turn them up. very clear sound all through the car.

ice wise, thats it for me i think. decent speakers 'oop front' and 'darn back' and a simple yet effective jvc headunit.

very nice .i put mine on a thin disc of mdf to stop alot of rattles and sounds alot better

 

i couldnt justify the mdf mate as the nur spec shakes and vibrates everything anyway so im never gonna get any peace

Ha! Took me about 2 weeks to do my comps properly. Don't think you'll stop, it's a slippery slope - I started of with just the headunit, then comps, sub under front seat, then new headunit again...

Reckon it's amp for the comps next - as I say, slippery slope...

p.s. sound deaden your doors - it makes a big difference.

excellent. didnt fancy doing it in the rain today and getting electrocuted

re. subs etc, i may get a small 8" or 10" in the boot eventually, so i can have the bass in there and turn the speakers bass down for a nice thump, but for now im happy.
