i had a MY01 WRX for 6 years with the PPP fitted for the last 3 years so i know what the PPP feels like to drive with a mechanical or cable throttle.

BUT -

my GB270, with the drive by wire throttle, drives completely differently to the extent that i am beginning to wonder who is in charge?

getting the car to rev. through 4000 rpm in second gear is a matter of subtle trickery because, if you just put your foot down, the car 'holds' at 4000 rpm until you lift off and reapply the throttle.

in third and fourth the problem is not so noticeable but it still feels weird compared to a linear mechanical cable throttle and has to be coaxed past the 4000rpm mark.

i noticed the problem during the first 1000 miles but thought it was some clever electronics stopping me over stressing the engine.

the dealer reset the ECU at the first service but the 'issue' is still there and i am learning to drive around it.

luckily the car has so much torque it is not too much of a problem.

has anyone else noticed this phenomenon on an MY07 WRX with PPP?

 

Sound to me like you have a problem which your dealer needs to investigate further, there should be no hesitation under acceleration and you certainly should not have to lift off and re apply the throttle to get past 4000 Rpm

 

Certainly sounds like you have issues mate, get that down to the dealer pronto.

The early hawkeye STi's were known to have this hesitation issue but not heard of it on a 2007 car let alone a WRX. It should fly through the range. Get the dealer to check it out properly not just reset the ECU.

 

Mmmm thats an odd one and isn't usual for the DBW cars, mapped one last Friday and it had non of that when done.

excuse my ignorance but what is a DBW car?

will any problems with the PPP show up on the Select Monitor or do i have to persuade the Dealer to come out for a drive to experience the problem?

is the 4000 rpm mark of any great significance regarding the variable valve timing and/or fuelling and/or boost and/or ignition on a MY07 WRX with PPP?
