Just been out to check my tyres, and i have 205/40/17 on the front and 215/40/17 on the rear,

Would this give me trouble in corners. and is so which would be the best size all round??

Not good for your centre diff. ! Or your insurance company !

It is legal to have wider tyres on the rear, but you need to swap two asap !

P.S. the difference in diameter is small enough not to upset your centre diff., but I tried 215 with 235 and it very quickly "felt" odd driving so bought two more tyres ! !

 

Cool, was changing them now anyway, that why i went out to get the size's. So which would be better 205 or 215

 

215, for the fact theyre wider.

i went from 205/45/17 pirellis that were on the car when i bought her, to 215/40/17 toyo t1-r's. much better in the wet.

215/40's are a much more common size and tend to be far cheaper than the 45's. As above - T1R's were my choice and had 26k on them with tread left when i sold my Scoob

 

On rear wheel drive car's yes, at least from my experience. My M3 was kitted out with wider wheels/tyres on the rear where as my RX7 actually had 18" on the rear and 17" on the front with the rears being 9" wide but then thats what you get from strange Japanese car owners

I was told for straightline, high speed driving its a good setup but for handling its a pig, never really noticed it myself but I ended up changing the wheels to a set of 18" Volks in the end for peace of mind.

From what I have gathered and been told, on a scooby you should have the same profile tyres all the way round, width and wheel height but don't take my word for it.

id have thought lamborghini would have taken this into account when designing the car. i asume the engineers figured out some differential tweakage or matched up the tyre circumferences to match, ie smaller aspect ratio on the rear compared to the front to accomodate the wider tyre?

Perhaps the Lambo is designed to have wider rears from the factory Subarus are not; you need the same size, make and model on all four corners.

Most folks go for 215/40x17 on a Classic because there is a good range of choice and they're very close in overal size to OEM, so gearing and speedo remain correct. Or 205/45x17.

Wheels should have an off-set of 52mm and anything lower, or wider tyres like 225s, is in danger of rubbing the rear arches.
