Hi, I think my Turbo Actuator may be the cause of my overboosting problem. It does move fairly easily by hand but it does look old, abit rusty and looks like its got hot from the turbo/heatshield.

Is there anyway to tell for sure if its sticking slightly? Is there away to free it up abit?

Any help, advice appreciated.

Have you replaced the pipes on the boost controller atall??? I only ask because Your "My scooby" profile says "Red Vacume hosing" ..

There is a restrictor in the output from the boost solenoid that goes to the airbox.

 

Cheers guys, It has got some resistance and springs back on its own, This is without the hoses connected to it... dont know if that makes it easier to move?

I havent replaced the hoses with the restrictor in it Davey but am still having problems...although its doesnt over boost every time I go WOT just some times and only when under alot of load.

tried everything so far but I will get to the bottom off it

mine does exactly the same under heavy load say fifth gear foot down at low speed when gathers boost it over boosts then hits boost cut out which normally gets it to run in safety mode!

 

If yuor sceario is like pimpalicious it usually means changes have been made that cause the boost to build more quickly than stock so it overboosts before the interanl controller can regulate it - mapping session required!

Basically I have a 3inch bellmouth de-cat down pipe and K&N panel filter, which I agree could cause overboosting, but I have a chip which is meant to account for the exhaust and filter which it has up untill I changed my version 1 slanty intercooler for a version 1 STi intercooler, hardly a difference in size, and samco hoses to for the intercooler which are abit more free flowing. Surley not enough to make it overboost by 2psi?

I think I might try a dawes device to control it because I cant find any other faults on it anywhere. Unless someone else has any ideas?
