Question Wheel size

Help please.

Ignoring rubbing, if I get a wheel and tyre package where the total diameter is greater than that of my current wheels, what problems might I find?

Rubbing is a possibility.

Speedo must be out??

Anything else to worry about?

Please forgive my ignorance!!

you would need to get a replacement spare wheel / tyre the same diameter otherwise using a different diameter may damage the gears / diffs

As you say you can get rubbing on the wheel arch and the wheel arch inner cover also.

You can effect the speedo reading, dependant on the size you may put extra stress on the wheel bearings causing them to fail more frequent, handling will be effected what ever, the bigger you go the more it won't respond and handling like a tram.

But all of the above really depends on what size you go for, if you change by 1inch very little will change, but change by 4inchs and all of the above will apply.

What car have you got, what suspension have you got, is the car lowered? You must consider all of these when buy a package. I decent car mod shop will be able to give you good advice.

There are some 18's that are a lot lighter than most 17's and quite a few 16's..!
