Default M5 V's RS4
Been reading lots of threads about how one is better than the other etc. The M5 probably does have the better balance on a track. But interesting to see the 2 pitched against each other in a straight line.

At first you think the M5 has the edge. But a straight line drag at the end revved through every gear suggests there is really nothing between them.

Not 'that' comparable. The RS4 is the M3 rival and the RS6 is the M5 rival. So I guess the Audi really is punching above it's weight.

M5 is clearly quicker from rolling starts. Surprise, surprise, 4WD gives the RS4 the edge from standstill, but the (old) M5 pulls it back. Hardly surprising there's not much in it, considering the similar BHP (the M5 was slightly modded) and weight. Now a new M5, well that would be different!

Not it's not - it's being compared to a previous gen M5. Try a previous gen RS4 against the same M5.

New V old - Not the best of tests, but new M5 certainly does the bizz at the top end.

So. The gearbox in the new one is clearly very good in addition to the obvious increase in power, cylinders and electronic technology.

What is the WHP / tonne on M5 & RS4?

Dudes that "m5 lameboard" or whatever it is not exactly the ultimate proving ground for car tests....that is why DSF motorvision and TopGear exist.
