My Grandad had one even managed to hit a celica and then rolled it into a beemer I would have hated to have seen him behind the wheel of a scoob, he got out unhurt but the 3 cars where a right mess, god rest his soul.

The poor owners could've at least got the 4.6 litre Ford V8 from the Cobra, but no, they had to make do with a Villiers 2-stroke

in the early 1970's when the Villers engine ceased production. The Invacar was then fitted with a much more powerful 4-stroke 500cc & 600cc Steyr-Puch engine which gave a maximum speed of up to 82 mph
Yikes there is no way anyone would want one let alone do 82mph in one

"on the 31st March 2003 the vehicles became illegal to own and illegal to drive on the British Highways. Government service were busy crushing around 50 Invacars per month until they no longer existed."

Wow, I never knew that. Did the same happen with space hoppers and white dog turds?

I see a few around - you can get out of either door, which is nice and I believe it has a Mclaren F1 style centre seat for perfect balance.

Hayabusa conversion anyone

Where do you see them, I think you must mean have seen a few about in the past seeing as by and large they have been crushed, cant be more than a handful about !

I was wondering how long the old name would take to surface, don't really think its suitable for use these days !

Opposite my old Primary school was a dealer/service centre, you could see loads of them from the playground back in the 70s

Horrible things - especially if you got stuck behind a 2-stroke one for any length of time

Burned magnificently, though

And even less crash resistance than a Saxo
