when you reach that figure you need to be running aftermarket management, which most do away with maf, so wont need to worry about it

its prob very near or might be more than a standard ecu can handel, no enough perameters in the ecu to allow for such high power.

can't remember exactly what they say is safe to run on the standard ecu

because the Apexi ECU has the ability to operate via the MAP sensor instead for its inputs.

as far as i;m aware if your running the apexi you wont be using the maf anyway? or does it need setting up specialy to do so (not entirely clear on this but intersted to know for future referance)

think it can run on both so would presume it would need mapping to suit whichever set up.

Wow - there's a lot of mis-information floating about in this thread

There is no Subaru version of the PowerFC that can natively operate without a MAF signal (there is a D-Jetro PowerFC but not for Subaru), it is possible to simulate a MAF signal from other sensors (MAP, RPM, TPS) and feed that to the ECU using the MAFSIM, however, this is somewhat of a last resort for installations where a MAF cannot be used.

Also, there is no reason why a suitably remapped std ECU can't perform aswell as an aftermarket ECU upto and beyond 400bhp, the only problem on the early cars is the complexity of mapping the ECU.

i thought you got problems from adjustment and sensor input limits on standard ecu's?

The 300ZX MAF still tops out at just over 5v, but the electronics are setup slightly differently so that 5v represents a much higher airflow than 5v on the Subaru MAF.

It is physically the same plastic moulding.

Andy is the sole UK commercial mapper supplying and fitting the MAFSIM for the PowerFC.

Cheers,

So how does the 300ZX one work better, my standard unit is giving 5.1v readings on the commander so is this about maxed out?

Yes it does need a rescale and it will also need some work on your inlet tract as it is a much bigger housing than the early MAF.
