Default Fitting a De-Cat down pipe

Have just bought a heatwrapped de-cat down pipe for my 93 WRX, I am abit bothered about sheering off the bolts attaching the old pipe to the turbo.

Although I havent had a good look at what type of bolts are on it or tried un doing them yet I thought it would be best to get some advice on this before I break one off. Are they good strong bolts? I would imagine they would have to be quite strong to withstand the heat from the exhaust gasses.

will the turbo require any heating up to remove them safely? or will they come out as long as I drench them in WD40 or other penertrating fluid?

any advice welcome,

Gaz

Hi, the bolts/nuts to the turbo will be old stubborn beggers! but if you soak in WD40 and leave a day or so you should be ok!

just take your time and be carefull not to round nuts/bolts.

give the nuts a good soaking, top 2 should be ok, side ones ok too, its the one underneath the downpipe thatsa bugger, be very careful not to round it off. i rounded that nut and then attempted to split the nut using a splitter, no joy so had to snap it off. huge pain in the ***....

Agree with the above, took me a full day using ramp and oxy bottles to heat nuts. Get pleny of duck oil soaked into them for a few days. WD40 tends to evaperate. Good luck.
