Exclamation

When idling my car *shakes/quivers* I am wondering what the hell it is and whether it is serious or not............someone mentioned that it could be the engine mounts as far as I am concerned it shouldn't be........

Help?

I noticed that when my car has just been started up and the idle speed is reducing (as it warms up) there is a noticeable vibration at about 1000rpm. Nothing too dramatic though.

Once the engine speed drops below that it goes away - it's just a speed that causes more vibration than normal.

Is yours "shaking" all of the time at idle or just occasionally ? Also, do you know what your idle speed is ?

It has always idled between 800 and 1000

IT is ony in the last couple of days that this shaking has become noticeable this is the FIRST time in OVER a year that the car has done this.........

Cheers,

Michelle

Lightbulb

Michelle,

Many moons ago my old 3.0S Capri ( I live in Essex ) began to develop a vibration. It turned out to be loose engine mounts and was fixed by my mechanic with the minimum of fuss and cost because I noticed the problem just as it began

I suggest you speak to Pete at ScoobySport as he may have some knowledge of this type of issue. If it is the engine mounts I would get it diagnosed ASAP because of the possible damage that can be caused by one of these failing whilst in motion.

Hopefully it is nothing too serious and it can be fixed at low cost

Regards

Yex

Thumbs down

fivepint I have looked inside my engine bay and have seen the actual engine shaking in beat to the revs at idle nothing else on the car moves - the engine shakes a little on start up but instead of quietening down it now continues shaking
