Default Conflicting answers !! Is the Map Sensor used for fueling ??

When you search on this you get many answers !! What is the actual one ??

Is the Map sensor used for Injector Duty Cycle relative to Boost ?

Is the map Sensor just used for Overboost detection ??

Is the Map sensor used for boost Duty ??

Or is it used for a combination of the above or indeed others ???

If it was used for fueling surely fitting an Fcd to fool the Ecu by supplying a fixed Voltage would make the Ecu think it was at a different boost level & potentially over fuel on lower Boost & possibly go lean at higher boost levels ??
If that makes sense !!

Thanks
Dean

Depends on MY
It doesn't on MY93-96
It does on MY99/00

Setting FCD too low on an MY99/00 can cause detonation due to the ECU thinking it's lower on the load scale and hence adjusting the fuelling/timing accordingly.

Not sure about 97/98, but expect 01> would be similar to MY99/00

Thanks Scott it's nice to wade through the Waffle
It's on an My98 !!!
In a round about way then, for a car that uses the map sensor it would be the safest bet (fueling Wise) to have the Fcd set at the Highest fuel cut level desired, (Max Voltage output).

How could you find out if the My98 used the Map Sensor ???

Thanks V Much.
