Default jdm wrx sti? or uk?

hi all,
im wanting to but a new wrx sti, ive been to my local dealer and really liked it except from the interior of which i liked the spec d.
i looked on the internet and came across litchfield imports,
i spoke to them and they said that i would be better off buying the jdm A - line and adding the larger rear spoiler (which i liked) from the wrx sti
in order to keep the looks from the sti but still have the leather interior, however i was told that the japanese version is only a 2.0 litre engine? and push out 320bhp instead of 286bhp here! is this right and am i right in thinking that the A - line looks exactly the same as the wrx sti apart from the larger rear spoiler and the roof vane in styling?
im thinking of getting their type 20 kit fitted also? if this is true!! i was also told that the japanese version is a much better spec'd car!
thanks in advance

Litchfield Imports come very highly regarded and will certainly offer you very good sound advice.
The JDM is a better car compared with the UK Sti.
I personally would have gone for the JDM car had the insurance not have been double that of the UK car that I subsequently bought (Sti8)

at the time I was stuck with my insurer and their quote for the JDM was £1400.00 compared with £850 for the UK spec sti (28 with 8 years no claims)

I was going to wait for my renewal and ring around whilst searching for a car but a UK spec car came up for sale on this board which I had had my eye on for some time. As such I couldn't resist and was a tad impulsive. If I'd have waited I would definately have gone down the JDM route.........

Renewal for the UK car this year was £700.00 with A Plan. Might be an idea to PM someone like Dream as he recently sold his WRX ppp to upgrade to a JDM car so will have first hand experience of the insurance costs.

I only paid £500 this year with A-Plan for my 03 JDM STI.
The JDM cars tend to be better spec'd and higher power btw, but you lose the classic burble of the UK car due to equal length headers.

I went from a MY04 STi with PPP fitted to a MY06 Spec C type 20 and my insurance only went up by £60. There's no way I'd go back you a UK/Euro spec STi as the JDM versions are technically far more advanced and better value for money. From what I've seen, they also have better residual values.

Buy with confidence from Litchfield's.

Don't rub it in Mark
False economy for me in the end as I've spent a small fortune (new turbo etc) to get that extra performance. Only just starting to reap the rewards.

thanx robocop you've just persuaded me!!
i recently saw the sti featured from litchfields on channel 5
amazing!!
im wanting the wrx sti looks with large rear spoiler but with the leather interior of the A line
litchfields advised me it would be cheaper to get the a line and fir the large rear spoiler!!

how much difference is there with the type 20kit

is the 2006 jdm 2.0 litre instead of 2.5l?

The JDM is still a 2.0ltr and from what I gather, is more advanced and stronger than the 2.5ltr. The only reason we now have the 2.5 engine is because of the Euro 4 emissions which the "old" UK 2.0ltr engine now would not pass without a loss in power and then needing more cash spent on it just to get it back to the same performance.

The Type 20 kit makes an already great car into a fantastic car. https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...t=powerstation

I was very lucky as Litchfield's had it already in stock. I'm sure other Litchfield customers will come forward and let you know how long it took from start to finish. You do get photos of your car at the docks in Japan/UK I believe, which is a nice touch.

What are you going to order then, the A Line?

When I ordered mine the car took about 4 weeks to get here from Japan. It then had to go through all of the import gubbins which took a few more weeks before PowerStation could start working their magic on it. As I ordered it just before Christmas, I decided to wait until the March to take delivery to get the 05 plate, so around 3 months in all.

No, you don't have to wait for the new plate, but some people might pay more for an 07 than a 56 when you come to sell.

do a search on this subjuct and you will find out all you need to know. My jdm STI with Type 20 handling kit, full milltek exhaust system and remap is £200 cheaper to insure than my old uk300 with over 100bhp more - all declared.

Pippyrips/mark I found warwick davis cheaper than a-plan by £50.Same insurance deal as well, have to wait till next year to find out if it goes up if so then I will try a-plan thatcham branch again as for the jdm being cheaper than a uk car I will agree on that point found a £150 differance on my old one with all mods declared.
