Default newage 2 classic

anybody made the move from newage scoob to a classic?
the grass seems greener to me. all i ever read is the newage is slower, uglier and less fun, amongst other things. is this right

I've owned both , and I'm not so sure the new age is that much slower but it's more the fact that it's a lot more 'refined' so you don't really notice how fast you are really going until you glance at the speedo , whereas the classic lets you know by the noise

Subaru had better come up with something a damn site better than what they currently have! and Prodrive better come up with a better and more reasonably priced performance kit before I would even contemplate trading in my 6 year old classic for one of the current model.

I wouldn't even hazard a thought at swapping my classicfor an 06 unless they can loose 400kgs and rev to 9k

There have ben loads of threads about this on here. At the end of the day - each to their own and all that, but for me I moved from a classic to a new age for the simpe reason that my classic was getting older, milage was high and it was begining to rust. I still do love my old classic though and in many ways it was a better car i.e. more predictable and fabulous looking from the back.

I love the classic for looks, rawness, the fact that I fell in love with Scoobies because of Colin McRae who had a classic in the rally, but I prefer knowing that I'm in a newer (blobeye) car with less on the clock and fewer creaks and rattles

I have owned two classics over teh last 6 years (jap import and PPP) and i collect an MY06 on wednesday... reason, i've turned 30 now and want a bit of refinement and now every early classic impreza i see looks like it's being run through a ripspeed halfords, it got to the point of me being embarrased to be seen driving one (yes i am a snob ).

Tony.

No, fully agree, Scoobys are becoming too chav, the classics (as they are now being bought for a half a k and a couple of grand by the giro set) even more so.

Shame but true. Most of the UK public looks and thinks crap.

Will that stop me driving mine....no!

I was thinking this only the other week!
I had a classic wagon turbo(needed boot for work)
now a blobeye- dont get me wrong i love it

but when i see ESC Karl's 22B and other well-looked after,clean-lined and tidy classics I think jesus they are so much more better looking and more tunable, etc than newage

But then other days i dont-

I had a 54 plate WRX and loved it, now I have a 96 PPP UK turbo, and I must say the experience of owning a classic is more fun and apart from my brakes which are currently standard 2 pots I find driving the classic a bit more entertaining.
