Nope !!!!, I Have a MY 06 Sti and I'm really disapointed that the flat four burble has gone. A miltek exhaust from litchfields may give a bit more of a roar but I'll never get the burble back

The STI ZLC I drove yesterday did, but I am not sure if that was still a 2.0 or a 2.5. It was definately an imported car.

My Sti is a JDM 2.0 and has no burble, and yes I think its down to the equal length headers.

JDM's are equal length but I thought the UK cars were still unequal as we love the burble over here. WR1 has equal though doesn't it.

Yes the uk ones are as far as i know still uneven.
JDM STi's on the other hand sound MUCH better than the burblling uk/classic cars, more of a rally car sound to them (03 onwards) and better low down power/smoother delivery.

The same was for the non-PPP 2003-2005 STi UK as I recall. Until you have a PPP done you won't get the burble back. Just have to wait until Prodrive bringout a PPP for the 2006.

No the burble is still there just not as pronounced due to the quiet exhaust. Equal length headers used on certain models remove it completly.

JDM new age sti and new spec c just sound like an evo ie crap, as for reving them to sound like a bike, then that just makes them sound like a honda civic !
You need any of the uk cars or early sti for the PROPER scooby burble.

according to maxpower - they do have equal length headers and the burble is no more but they still considered the car incredible.

stupid question comming (sorry guys not very mechanically minded)

If you have a JDM impreza (new age) that comes with equal length headers, could you put a un-equal lengh headers on instead? custom made or otherwise. If you could would the flat 4 burble come back??

Theoretically yes it probably is possible, though you would loose power.
If you have never heard a JDM with equal length headers and twin scroll turbo, id listen to one, even go out in one, the do sound better than the burble you get from a "normal" scoob its more exclusive and it really does sound better once you get your head around it, i personally dont miss the burble one bit i just love the sound the turbo makes and its slight whisle at idle upwards

Thanks for that info mate. Have never heard a JDM nor seen one only seen ones on here.

- What this site needs is a sound/video section (as an FAQ maybe) so people can here see the difference.

No you cannot just change the headers to get the burble back on the JDM. If you change the headers it will not mate with the up-pipe. If you change the up-pipe it will not mate with the exhaust side of the turbo.

To do it you need to change, headers, up-pipe and exhaust side of turbo. Or change the turbo to fit the up-pipe but then you need to change the downpipe as it won't fit the turbo lol! To cut a long story short if you want a burble don't buy a twin scroll

UK 2.5 06 still has sopme burble but the headers are a lot more equal than before so it is less pronounced... kind of in the middle ground but more towards equal than not if you know what I mean.

Does anyone know if the UK Sti 2.5 06 has a twin scroll turbo?
