Default Motorpoint get it wrong again!

Just spotted this on Motor Trader website.....

Motorpoint to pull advertising campaign
Dec 2005

Car supermarket Motorpoint has been forced to pull its latest ad campaign after the Advertising Standards Authority ruled that the adverts were misleading. Consumers complained to the government watchdog that the prices listed in the current campaign were misleading because they did not include the registration fee or road fund licence. The ASA ruled that the adverts could not run in their current form and advised Motorpoint to seek guidance from the Copy Advice team before advertising again.

They have always advertised like this. Trade-Sales are the same.

All you have to do is add on about £260 for road tax, registration fee & preparation fee and another £350 for an alarm if you want one and the price is still £5K less than your Subaru dealer

You are right though, they should have been made to fall in line before now, if only to assist the mathematically challenged!!

Do the ads mention that you don't get your Subaru warranty either?

But why go to Motorpoint?

Motorpoints price for a MY 06 WRX Wagon is £17,599 plus Road tax, Alarm etc, etc. making the OTR price around £18,215.

Looking at Lichfields site, they do the car for £17,495 OTR. This includes a 3 Year Subaru Warranty

Looks like metallic may be extra at Lichfields, but even adding that, it is still nearly £400 saving on Motorpoint and nearly £4.5K over a Subaru squealer.

If I had to choose between Motorpoint and Litchfield it would not be a hard decision.

Now if I can just find the cash down the back of the sofa.......

The savings simply are not worth it when you take into account the **** poor residuals of imports IMHO.

Discounts on proper UK cars are too great these days to even consider an import as a viable option IMHO again, of course!

What kind of trade in value do Litchfields offer though? Sometimes you cannot afford to be without a car for a few days so selling a car privately is not an issue.

If you have a car to get rid of, it't the cost to change that is the issue, not the window sticker of the new car.
