Will be fitting a new MAF on Saturday. Is it a good idea to reset the ECU so it learns new settings straight away (by disconnecting the battery while I'm doing it)? Alternatively leave it to adjust itself as I run it over a period of time?

 

i would say reset it by connecting the green and black set of wire under your dash it would help it learn quicker

 

There is no need the ecu will self learn as you drive. If you do you could be worse off to start with.

Fitted the MAF, reset ECU, gentle driving for a while and then...



WOO HOO!!! Back to it's old self - even sounds different. I should have done it sooner really I guess but it was a very gradual deteriation. Thanks to the 'How to change a MAF' info on Stefan Ostadal's website it was easy too.

Hi MW - go to http://www.stefanostadal.homedns.org/index.htm - just click on the MAF section. Lots of other info there as well. One thing - the MAF change section recommends removing the air filter housing etc. I just took the alarm off it's bracket and that gave enough room to undo the two TORX bolts that hold the MAF in place without removing any of the air filter assembly.
