Default Newbie seeks reassurance

I've just traded my Lexus IS200 SE in for a 2002 WRX STi Prodrive, which I'm collecting on Saturday. The thing that's started to worry me is that I've seen several references to this being a less popular car than the standard STi... As far as I can see the only difference between it and a 2004 WRX STi in my local Subaru garage is the 'bug eye' headlights, which I quite like. Is there anything else I should be aware of that could lead to this being a faster depreciating car?

Thanks for any advice/reassurance. Also, is there a way to search the forum? There doesn't seem to be a 'search' button, and I don't want to annoy people with newbie questions like "do you really have to use super unleaded" and "where can I get some STi decals", etc

Welcome to the fold first and to a great choice of car. Don't worry to much about what people say, it's about personnal choice, if you like them then thats all that counts.

first off all welcome
i am sorry to say a bugeye is less popular than a blobeye. if you like it the style of your car don't give a second thought to what anyone else says. subaru do say to use super unleaded for a sti with ppp.

A 2002 car should have lost most of the money it's likely to. Well it should have lost about 45-50% of it's list price when new anyway.

Welcome . Don't worry mate, I've got a MY02 STi Prodrive. There's plenty of very happy owners. Its a limited edition, only 1,000 made. The headlights are unique to that model. Later Sti's and WRXs have shared the same design.

True, the standard 2001/2 WRX was no picture, but all cars of that year tend to get tainted with the same brush by some on here.

My MY02 STi Prodrive is here: http://markus8581.fotopic.net/c34764.html

Enjoy your new car .

Thanks everyone who has replied for the kind words. It's a bit nerve-wracking spending a large amount of money on a car like this, then worrying that people will think it's ugly. To my Impreza-novice eyes, the Prodrive version looks only very slightly different to the current STi, and I was surprised by the venemous comments that bugeyes seem to attract on the net. I hadn't realised that the Prodrive had unique headlights though, so that's reassuring...

Oh, and I really like those white side indicators on your (very nice looking) car - any chance you could let me know where they can be bought?

Thanks again,
Tom

I think you can get them from a main dealer.

Cheers Tom, yep, as Chris says, I got my indicators from the Subaru dealer when the car was new.

I was born and bred in Stockton-on-Tees ....... but I think the Bug-Eye is really ugly, but if you like it then thats all that matters.

That model is, after all, very very cheap due to most people hating them ...... was the Lexus a good car to own??

Lee, they look like morettes, which presumably have been changed at some stage of the car's life. Still cool as you say

I have to say that I still prefer the bugeye in STI form to the classic, as well as the blobeye. That might be because I own one.
