Ask yourself one question.

Would a manufacturer spend time and money putting something on that they could do without?

It's there to prevent turbo stall and help to prolong the life of the turbo (in these conditions). Some say take it off to improve response, some say leave it on to improve response! lol Some say take it off for a standard to mildly tuned car to improve response and others say put it back on when using a certain sized turbo. The story goes on and on.....

Regards,
Shaun.

You can run without it; as most WRC cars do; but itll f*ck your turbo and itll drive like ****e too (on an otherwise standard car). The only dubious benefit will be the noise that it makes when you change gear (whichs what most eejits who fit a VTA dump valve are looking for).....

lol @ S.B. I wasn't aware of any emission reasons why trump valves need to be fitted though!

Shaun.

2 and a half years of high boost on an uprated turbo and no dump valve from the day I bolted it on....
The turbo hasn't fallen apart yet.
In fact nothing has fallen apart yet ! which is quite a surprise considering the way I drive it.

Edit for the pedants..
Ok I broke the gearbox.
oh and an exhaust bracket.
