Ive got Sky + and would now like to get rid of my Video and purchase a DVD recorder.
I would like to stick with the Sony product if possible and have been looking at the SONY RDRGX300
But how compatible are they with the Sky + system, are DVD recorders fool proof... Cos it will need to be for me to use.
Any help would be nice !
Cheers

I've got the Sony 700.
Playback of pre-recorded dvds is superb, no question. Also, it's *extremely* easy to use and program.
However;
Start up time seems interminable. At least 30 seconds just to turn it on, and about 15 seconds to turn it off if you've just recorded something.
When you've set the timer, the cooling fan at the back stays on until recording starts, even though the recorder is off. Why this is so i have no idea, but it does become an irritation!
Recording quality is, in my opinion, average, but then i've no other dvd recorder to compare it against. I'm not a big fan of digital home entertainment, either in TVs or recorders, and this backs up my thoughts - my video (also a Sony) records much better, but then you don't get the advantages of indexing or instant access.

The Sony RDR 300 (or whatever it's called) is the new What Hi-Fi and wins a dvd recorder supertest. they rate it very highly.

it does say that it is quite noisy in operation - but has a lot of features and the recorded programme is barely indistinguishable from the broadcasted equivalent.
