Default DO APES IN THE WILD HAVE TYRE LEVERS??

I recently needed two new tyres on my car , i searched around and finally found a good price fro Bridgestone Potenzas £85 fitted.

I took my car to the garage and watched as the Buffoons attempted to replace my tyres (It only took them 2 hrs to change two tyres!!!)

I can say the scene was like watching Apes in the wild trying to reprogram a computer with a hammer. I gave them the benift of the doubt until i got my previously unmarked wheels back with small nicks and scratches. Moral...... CHEAPEST ISN'T THE BEST.

Does anyone know if you can get a touch up pen for 03 Sti Gold Alloys??????

What profile were the tyres?

I know that our family garage find it impossible to get my tyres off my 17" rims (odd wheel/bead design)....even with 4 of us leaning on the tyre changer machine with levers bars an all. We gave up and went somewhere who has the tools for the job...

As a note the rim is taped with masking tape to prevent scratches

The tyre fittering company we use to do awkward wheel/tyre combs have a changer with a 2nd lever arm specially for this, mind you, when I went there to do some NSX wheels...it was STILL a 4 man job with masking tape!!

It's so easy to do with standard wheels.

So...yes cheapest ain't the best....but having silly low profile tyres with tough sidewalls is asking for trouble too!

The tyres are 225/45/17" Bridgstone Potenza's Standard!!

P.s didn't mean to offend all tyre fitters. Im sure most would have admitted defeat after 30 mins rather than botch the job.

Yep, thats a pain in the **** size (same as mine). It does depend on the internal shape of the wheel too. If the machine doesn't have the 2nd arm then they make life very very difficult!

I'm not a tyre fitter, but have access to tyre fitting machinary (if you know what I mean). Although I have a few friends at chemix who might want to chase after you wielding tyre levers

Go to your dealers-they should sell them.

Cool

Halfords sell subaru gold wheel paint and they will mix up a tin for you, I've used it to touch up my sti7 alloys and it matched a treat.

Kris,

Get the tyre place to cover the cost of repairing the wheels, they have no excuse for any damgage and should have customer liability insurance.

I always go to a small outfit near Mansfield who will price match and have a no damage promise.

Cheers

Glenns Lo-Cost Tyres behind Focus on Chesterfield Road.

Ask for Glenn, sort out a price and mention about your alloys. On high priced stuff Glenn will usually do the work himself or at least oversee a fitter doing the work.
I've had loads of tyres from him and my boss who lives at Heanor has just used him for a new set on his WRX.

What colour is your STi8? See a silver one around my way alot, there's a WR1 around Sutton as well.

Cheers
Lee
